Originally from Belarus and shaped by years in New York, Alya Kazakevich creates from her garden studio at MontRose, Marseille. Working with vegetable-tanned leather, ceramics, she makes furniture and objects by hand, one piece at a time. Each piece is slowly hand-dyed and hand-stitched using traditional techniques. Minimal and architectural in form, her work is made to endure, to age with grace, and to carry the quiet story of the hands that shaped it.
